Play a Note

The area is split into the main display of the fretboard on top and a stave on the bottom. If you click anywhere on the fretboard the software will play the note you clicked and display the note on the stave just below.
To make it clear the notes on the stave do not fill from left to right but are shown always below the equivalent position on the fretboard. The notes name is printed on top of the oval. Here is an example:

There it is an F-sharp. If you are interested to see all the F-sharps that are on your fretboard click on the F# button on the right (in the box named Display Notes) and all F-sharps will be shown on the fretboard and on the guitar stave right below their fretboard position. However, these notes will not be played by the integrated Midi-Player. If you want all note names displayed go to Settings -> Sharps/Flats/Notes and click on Show Notes. The little tick mark next to this toggle shows that it is now on. Clicking again will switch the note names off. Clicking on either Sharps or Flats will toggle between these two (Note: clicking on Sharps twice does the same).
