GFF allows loading arbitrary files that are in a special xml format. From File → Open XML-File you get through the standard OpenFile Dialogue to open the XML file of your choice. Part of the filename is displayed on top of the list box to help you be reminded of the opened file.

This software has a few chords stored in xml-files. The filename indicates the chords base note. The image below shows the list-box that comes up and displays the chords that you can play. Double-click on your chosen chord to immediately show the fret positions, notes, and to play it (you can also select a chord and click on the green Start button). Since the idea is to generate flashcards the alternative is to select a number of chords with either Shift-Click to select contiguously or Ctrl-Click to select one-by-one. After you have completed your selection you can start the flashcards by clicking on the green Start button.

The xml-file notes are respecting your choice of capo position. You will see that the mute notes are displayed on the capo-fret as well as the open notes.

When going into xml-mode the range of selected and displayed frets is switched your prior selection. You can reselect the range if you want to change your view. Notes displayed and played are respecting your selected fret-range.

If you scroll down you see an image of a D major chord dispalkyed on teh fretboard, the guitar stave under the fingering and to the right with notes stacked up to form the chord.
